I have a Franco-German Dream …

3159547388

Should France and Germany merge into a single economic body, that would create the third economic powerhouse in the world, right behind the United-States and China, with 147 million people and a common GDP close to 6,000 bn dollars …

Of course, mega-mergers are management nightmares and big dreams may fail (small is beautiful, some have been saying and re-saying for a while), there are a few issues including Euro-things, some national political realities and quite a lot of economic constraints, to begin with, and of course not all French, neither all Germans, nor their neighbors and partners have that same dream, all the less, since even people who know well, or love, or both know and love well Europe, don’t necessarily feel like learning and speaking German, French or both on top of English or whatever works to survive and be reasonably happy in XXIst century real Europe.

Europe According to the United States of America

And of course, it may not be taken for granted, that nowadays’ French and German leaders could be up to the job (not everybody is Konrad Adenauer or Charles de Gaulle), or may at least manage to join forces and share visions to save the Euro(pe).

50 years of Franco-German Friendship : let’s dance !

Flags

First, former foes shook hands.

Then, unexpected friends held hands.

Now, new friends might walk the old talk hand in hand … but not dance yet.

But can a German (female) and a French (male) be friends ?

And, please, don’t misthink, this is a serious and decent blog !

Diamonds are Forever, So Queen Elisabeth and England Seem to Be : Happy Jubilee, Madam

From a French perspective, England and the UK may not have always been easy neighbours and perfect Euro-partners over the last millenium or so, but any fair-play French person must admit, that both this Queen and that Country are quite admirable !

Normal Business as Usual in Paris, Cannes, Afghanistan and the rest of the world ?

Here comes the sun in Paris, Cannes and most places deserving to be mentionned in the rest of the world (at ecowar) : everything is getting back to normal, summer will soon be here to stay a while and it will be business as usual in France.

In #Paris (#France), Hard Days and Hot Shows equally End Up with a Good Late Dinner and Some More Talking

Paris nightlife used to be different before France discovered Revolutions and TV shows. In Oldschool French Politics, people used to talk more about Cuisine or Sex than local elections. Things change, even in Paris, and there may come more “Changement”.

Ps : the undertitle of Molinaro’s film is anachronic, and not to be considered in view of recent situations and people in France, things have changed, they always do, and people have changed, even politicians are different from what they used to be a couple of years centuries ago, there’s always something new happening in Paris. And by the way, the last trendy dish in town was “pâtes aux truffes”, not “asperges en petit pois”, but even the pasta is already has-been, everybody is on a diet now in France, and it may last quite a while even if the wheater is warm in Europe next summer.

But as the old French saying goes : “Les carottes sont cuites … let’s have dinner and the whole thing off, tomorrow will be another day et les lendemains vont chanter, whatever song, whoever sings, whatever works”.

That’s all there is to say now. But one never knows what may happen with those French People. Some are surprising and worth listening to, reading about, remembering for inspiration. Everybody knows, that when the going gets tough in France, the tough Frenchmen keep talking (some even walk their talk, but usually, voters and other citizens let them talk).

RF, really.

Let Them Talk … in #Paris #France (#Europe ?)

Nobody was perfect, not even in #France, but some were more than others, like Raymond #Aubrac
