Is Paris still the romantic city of love ?

Red-love-couple-coffee-mugs_1920x1200

Yes, Paris still is a city of free and happy love, even if even love may be taken hostage by French politics. Read more about it here :   and day by day on the blog “Café du matin à Paris” : http://www.facebook.com/cafe.renaud

Was France at some kind of war with Mexico ?

Florence Cassez - Mexico

The good news is, there neither is, nor was, a war between France and Mexico. A French lady had been in jail in Mexico for 7 years, she was fred and could fly back to Paris and meet President François Hollande for a debriefing, and the French TV’s talked a lot about her 36 hours without knowing much about the story behind. Viva Mexico, and vive la France, that’s it. Have France and Germany been friends 50 years ?

Is it believable, that the Frogs and Germans have remained at peace, and even friends, over the last several decades of economic world war ? 50 years of Franco-German Friendship : let’s dance !

First, former foes shook hands.

Then, unexpected friends held hands.

Now, new friends might walk the old talk hand in hand … but not dance yet.

But can a German (female) and a French (male) be friends ?

And, please, don’t misthink, this is a serious and decent blog !

Germany and France will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of their “Entente Cordiale” in Paris

angela-merkel-francois-hollande-merkel-hollande-reuters-930620_scalewidth_630

Of course, it’s not as glamorous as a Queen’s Jubilee, and The Economist, French citizens from French speaking  London and other France, Germany, and/or Euroland bashers may smile at “la souris accouchée par la montagne franco-germanique”.

Should the Tour de #France be seeking a red carpet elsewhere like other French businesses ?

Bicycle Race

Depardieu from Paris to Russia ; French soldiers from Afghanistan to Tchad ;  French car and other industries to Morocco ; Paris-Dakar raid from “French” Africa to Patagonia and Tour de France in Corsica : so what, now, if Armstrong talks ?

1817493_3_1812_l-interview-de-lance-armstrong-par-oprah_bda1c144ec87b863d53d3eda1a9e60ff

England seems attractive, all the more since most French sportspeople already live there if they can speak English, but it is not an option for real summer bicycle races, due to weather conditions, and because the British advertisers are busy with the Wimbledon tennis tournament in July.

Oldshool Bicycling

One needs a glamorous country with a high tolerance for drugs habits of outdoors professional politicians sportspeople (otherwise, real performers may not join), cheap wireless internet and a respect for environment (otherwise, real advertisers could withdraw).

Clean Bike

Too bad if Paris is no longer an option due to that drug thing : they are 100% glamour, 100%  professional and 100% ready for the 100th bicycle Tour de France, there. Besides, many hotels propose cheaper rates for early checkout.

Pro-Cycling Paris Style

Corsica could be an option : it’s green, beautiful, and French ; the roads are euro-subsidized and the water is drinkable in most places ; and people don’t seem to be as drug-friendly there as in continental Europe. But it may take some time for the people there to learn French, not to mention English ; the local gangsters should refrain from shooting (no, not shouting, this would be considered offensive, not polite, in Corsica) at each other during the competition (and not shoot at business people’s German cars when the French media is not busy with a war or football elsewhere), and it should be confirmed they can find a decent floating hotel for the international media and French politicians, now that they have crashed their flagship Napoleon Bonaparte in the harbour or Marseille.

After all, as roads in Africa are too hectic, the drinking water is not reliable in Chinindia, and Brazil is busy with football and the Olympics, let it be simple and let’s deal with Qatar, another proud leader of global “Francophonie”, as usual in France these days.

Is #France already at war again ? In #African Sahara again ?

hollande_guerre_liberation

Some French planes seem to be bombing some rebels in Sahara on behalf of the government of Mali, with the strong moral support of the United Nations, with African, Maghreb and other international partners. Is France art war in Western Africa ?
article_photo_1358017826514-3-HD

A French boat seem to be cruising somewhere close to Somalia and France is said to have lost some soldiers and a hostage there is a rescue operation that failed. Would France be fighting something or someone in non French speaking Eastern Africa ?

312694599_somalie_huit_civils_tues_dans_le_raid_francais

On the other hand, some say, that due to high housings costs in Paris and low availability of free land in the countryside (plus snow at night on French airports), in view of diplomatic issues in Syria and losses in translation in Somalia, the French may have decided to resettle their refugees from Afghanistan in friendly Northern Mali, in the middle of nowhere in the deserts of Africa, where the climate is better in winter, and where there is a lot of hot sand and available housing, now that the terrorists have killed and expelled most regular inhabitants over the last 9 months of “open bar” or so in what could have been Azawad, if not simply Mali, but has tuned into something else. Could a recent French political initiative make technical sense, for a change ?

624_341_9e0affdd2c662b6f37af5f9400780801-1358194280

But there it cannot be as simple as that … with France, there must be something more (or less) glamorous.

Mali_Le_point_sur_l_intervention-a3ea4510f0404adafa6a6ea92603aa86

Something more … French

mali-pour-francois-hollande_5ie3h_2gba6r

But what else ?

France Mali Fighting

Some Franco-French post-Françafrican Francofolies ? A new “certaine idée de la France en Afrique” ?

1775128_3_8f51_francois-hollande-et-valerie-trierweiler-a_f45c330759fc5cc6186445a4b5263b73

Or just some Franco-French Gauloiseries ? (Some say, the second biggest Malian town, after Bamako, is in Paris suburbs)

1401-HollandeMali

Anyway, the entrepreneurs who have not left the country over the last decades seem afraid. Is France struggling against French creators and businesspeople with a view to attract foreign investors ? Is France at war against French success in France ?

ZguwR

The few artists and other French sportspeople not yet living in America because of the climate, Switzerland for the better snow, London due to the great weather, china for the better football or Belgium fort the better beer, and not stuck to France for subventions or health care are escaping to Russia or looking for Qatari free zones in Paris, now. Is France at war against French culture and sport ?
